LOS ANGELES -- There was never any outward indication that anything was wrong in Mark Berndt's classroom at Miramonte Elementary School in south Los Angeles. School officials and law enforcement authorities say they never received any complaints about the third-grade teacher, who is accused of blindfolding students, putting tape on their mouths and taking photos of them with live cockroaches or a spoon full of semen.
The photographs, brought to the attention of authorities last January by a film processor, eventually led to Berndt's arrest on Monday on charges that he committed lewd acts on 23 boys and girls, ages 6 to 10, between 2008 and 2010.
The 61-year-old made his first court appearance on Wednesday. His bail was raised to $23 million from $2.3 million. His arraignme
I am a poor man and i make far less than either of my brothers yet I am the only one that is retired and I'm more satisfied with life and my circumstances than most people are with their life. I can't imagine needing money so bad that I would stoop to producing child porn for profit, nor am I so sexual deviate that child porn interests me in any form or fashion.
This has to be one very twisted school teacher.

I can hear again
I received my new set of hearing aids today and things are great. The new aids brings my hearing level up to 64%, double what I could hear before. I can hear almost as well as people with normal hearing but that doesn't mean I can understand everything they have to say. If I'm in the next room I probably can't understand you or if you are looking away from me I'll have a harder time. Still, things are so much better.

Robbery at Harris-Teeter
Greensboro, NC -- Police are searching for two suspects that robbed the Harris Teeter at 3330 West Friendly Avenue Tuesday morning.
Police said two black males wearing hoodies and masks entered the store in the Shoppes At Friendly just before 6am. Employees said the men showed a gun and demanded money.
The suspects left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Greensboro Crime Stoppers at: 373-1000.
Greensboro Police
My former place of employment.
The only info I can give is the police are looking for two idiots. Management doesn't come it until 9 o'clock so there was no one that come open the safeand the only register that is open is the self-checkout so almost 100% of the nights sales will be inside the machine. The cashier only keeps enough money for making change and the cashier only has to do that is the machine won't accept a bill or a machine malfunctions.
Wow, what idiots.

I'm not dead
Reba mcIntre is the lastest celebrity to be caught upin the "Shes/he's dead posting that circle the internet. Well, I'm not dead either. It would be scarry if I was because this blog would be writting itself.
Of course I'm not a celebrity either but only because no one purchased my books. Well, not so many people.

The tides have turned
It just amazes me the number of people who express no belief in God and belittles those that do. It hasn't been that many years ago that even if a person did not accept God as a reality, which is their right to do, they at least kept that belief to themselves and if they expressed their disbelief, it was with respect to believers. But today non-believers have become hostile and derogatory towards God and believers, especially Christians.
Is this the result of the evoluntionary theory or the banning of prayer from schools? What the shame of it all is is that Christians have retreated back into their churches and ventured out to spread the gospel. This slight persecution of Christians should be a wake up call and a call to arms to get out and work harder but instead I see a retreat.
Maybe that's a result of changing God;s word to fit more into what we believe instead of adapting our beliefs to fit the word of God.

Groundhog day
Groundhog day has held my interest since I was old enough to know what groundhog day was. I have never been a fan of cold weather so groundhog day has always been a special event, letting me know that there was still hope that winter did have an end. I have always pulled for a prediction of an early end to winters cold, dark, grey, wet, sloppy existence and an early coming of the buds and blooms of spring and the warmth of summer.
This year we may have the beginning of spring befor the beginning of winter. Whether this years weather is a result of global warming or a natural cycle is better left up to scientist to decide. I am just happy that I have been able to be outside working to clear the land at the church in hopes that one day we can put the property to better use than growing weeds on. But as has happened in years past, we may go from winters to summers heat with hardly a glimpse of spring.
There are just a few more trees to cut, one small section to clear, and lots of brush to carry off and ground to rack and my project at the church will be finished. It really should not take more than four or five good days to finish up but I have a lot going on the next few weeks so it is hard finding the time to get the job done. But it will get done.
I know our church is tiny but we have services that equal or surpass those of much larger churchs. Once we start to grow, watch out.

For Sale
I have 3 to 4 dozen baby koi, born in May of 2010 that I need to sell. (I would have a more accurate count but they keep swimming around when I try to count them.) There is a good variety of colors. I am only keeping eight, one white one with an orange spot on its head, a white one with a tiny dark spot (casper), one black and white spotted one, and some tri-colored ones (showas, I believe). Some are still small in the 2" or less, most are 3 to 5 inches, and some are over 5 inches long.
I would rather sell them to backyard enthusiasts but will sell to a pet store if necessary.

Trust no one
trust no one; not even me. Great words to live by. Even though we do find ourselves putting our trust in people like our close friends, oour spouces, our parents and siblings and our children we still should view their behavior based on the fruit they produce and not just their words.

One Way Yard work
Property of One Way Baptist.
I have been working to clear this property and in this shot one can see the edge of the property as a few small trees and stumps are being cut.
Web trickery
Web article promises a mouth watering recipe and then shows you a video, then promises you a peek at a celebraties dance moves then shows you a video of still pictures.
The key word here is video. It is harder to get you to look at an ad when the ad is attached to an article but in order to view what you were promised you will have to watch the ad in order to see the article if it is attached to a video. Now why show a video of still pictures? For one, if they told you all they had was still pictures of a person dancing, then tthey aresaying they have nothing od interest and you certainly aren't going to read an article about someone dancing but if they promise you a video then you will have had to watch the ad before discovering the trickery.

Labor of Love
My yard work at the church is almost to an end, at least for now. I have two old tires to gather up, clean and take to Thomas Tire for recyling and the remnants of an old outhouse to gather up and dispose of. of course rhere is a hole that needs to be filled in and a small section that the overgrowth needs to be cleared from but until some trees are cut I'm not going to mess with that area. At this point in time it is rather useless to do so.
Either someone will have to donate labor with a chain saw to cut the trees and small stumps away as well as a few fallen trees or I will have to wait until next year and purchase a chain saw with my pumpkin money, which I really hoped to use to purchase a rider for my old age.
if I clear that piece pf property then the area cleared will be just too much for me to mow with a walk-behind mower. I just don't want the saplings and the vines too get out of hand in the area until I'm ready for it too be cleared but it would be nice to go ahead and get the trees cut, especially sono more fallen limbs and leaves will make the job harder next year.
Of course there is already numerous hardwood tress that have been fellen at the back of the property that someone desiring firewood is welcomed to come and cut. I'm not cutting carrying, or hauling any wood for anyone.
I'm going to take some pictures tomorrow and post since it will be one day it should be clear and bright enough to get some shots. I'll post them tomorrow or Thursday.

Death, burial, and resurrection
Tiny One Way Baptist Church baptised three last night, using the baptismal pool at New Salem Baptist Church on Old Greensboro Road.
One Way Baptist Church is sometimes mistaken for a museum or memorial in a park but it is a vital growing church. If you ever come, make it when Rev. Savage is here from the City of Refuge which is the children's home sponsored by Bible Missionary Baptist Church near Charlotte. If Rev. Savage can't reach a cold dead heart the kids sure can.
The revival is being held in April and I will keep you posted on the exact dates and times.

MLK Day and me
I was a college student when MLK was assassinated and I remember one student commenting that he was glad the SOB was dead. I said "It doesn't matter what the man believes or what he had done, no one deserves to die by murder." He just hung his head and mutterted 'You are right."
I have to admit that up until that time I did not pay attention to the world around me. Two years earlier when other students were protesting the war in Vietnam I was sitting in my dorm room unaware that a protest was even going on. Of course I was just as aware of the civil rights movement as I was of the War in Vietnam but I was no more interested. After all neither event really affected my life, at least, not until that student uttered that statement about MLK's death.
It isn't common knowledge that the majority of Americans were not in favor of the Revolutionalry War against England and yet we honor the heroes of that movement until this day. We not only elected the General of the Army as the first President we named a holiday after him. True, he was famous, did something heroic, and, although most Americans did not support his cause, the citizenry recognized his sacrifices and his bravery and dedication to a cause that changed the cousrse of America. Abraham Lincoln is also so honored with his birthday as a national holiday. His decisions altered the course of this country and affected the lives of millions of people, then and forever.
Great causes stir great feeling and call for great sacrifices and seldom are the causes popular. MLK led a group of oppressed people in protest of the laws and attitudes that prevented them from being treated with dignity as were the majority of the citizens. It was a just cause. Unlike the Revolutionary War which called for raising standing armies and plunging this entire nation into a war and the War Between the States which called for brother taking up arms agaist his brother and the ripping apart of this country in the bloddiest war this country has every known, the war waged by MLK was marked by demonstrations and the attempt was made to change minds and hearts and not to beat the oppressors into submission. What MLK did was not popular but it did involve great sacrifice and dedication to a cause he believed in that changed the course of American forever.
To the English, Americans are still looked down on and some still refer to us a the colonies. In many ways some Americans are still fighting the civil war and bitter about the outcome so in the same ways, some Americans will never give in to the ideas of freedom and equality for all Americans. We should be a country, we should be united and we should treat each one of our citizens with the same degree of equality.
To be honest, there should not be a black culture or an espanic culture in this country. It should be an American culture. But then American is the land of freedom and opportunity. In some countries everyone has to be of the same religion and if you decide to believe something different you have put your life at risk. But in the USA one can be Muslim, Baptist, or Luthern or of no religion without fear of persecution from the government.
Black history month, MLK day, the NAACP, Bill Cosby, or Oprey Winfred came make all Americans love or even like each other. We have to do that ourselves. When our music, way of talking and way of dressing is more identified with our age than it is with our race we will have ventured well into becoming one nation.
Martin Luthern KIng day should not be a black holiday any more than Washingtons birthday is a white holiday. After all, what MLK did changed this country for the better for all people, my self and my family as well. We must remember that is the majority is allowed to take the freedoms from the miniority, one day someone can justify taking your freedoms from you. We are all free or none of us is free.

First lady rips 'angry black woman' image
During the interview Mrs. Obama said "I love my job." Where doesshe work? I thought she was a stay at home mom. Being First lady isn't a job although it may seem like hard work bossing your staff around it isn't an occupation or a profession.

Boring Game?
Just read an article about how boring the LSU/Alabama game was and how maybe Oklahoma should be named the national champions even though LSU was the number one team and Alabama was number two and based on a squeaker of a victory, 9-6 in the first contest. No one complained of boredom in that first overtime victory.
I have read stories of how this was going to be a low scoring hard fought contest like the firsdt game was because both teams had great defenses. There was a game in the last few weeks in which the two teams scored like 160 some points and everyone was bellyaching about how sloppy and boring that game was and that an all offensive game was more boring than a hard fought defensive contest is and one writer said he would be looking forward to this game between LSU/Alabama because it would be a well played defensive contest. Now he is complinning for the same reason.
I don't watch football with the exception of the Super Bowl now and then. Most games are boring to me considering the average amount of action per contest is only about 7 minutes.

My dog can eat your dog
Not really, but people who love pit bulls claim itisn't the dog but irresponsible dog owners that is the problem and they are correct to a certain degree. Just as gun advocates claim that gun owners don't kill people, guns do, it is people making bad decisions that is the problem.
Bad people don't train poodles to be killers. Pit bulls are the dogs of choice because they are aggressive, strong, and easy to train. Of course pit bulls are not the only aggressive dog in the neighborhood but then again if I was going to a gun fight I would not bring a derringer.

Alabama Wins
Earlier in the season Alabama suffered in lone loss to LSU and that was a 9-6 loss in overtime with the only scores coming from Field Goals. Many felt that Alabama did not deserve a shot at the national championship because of the loss to LSU but they were given the shot and made the most of it with a
21-0 victory, finally scoring a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The extra point was missed but Alabama didn't need it as their special team and their defense was too much for LSU.

A communication device
Once upon a time humans did not have a way to communicate unless they were in close proximity with each other. As time passed man made way. One of the first, I imagine was the drum, then the post, which was most likely delivered by horseback but not for the common man but royalty. The common man probably did not know how to read or write and had no use for posting.
Of course from that was born the post office, telegraph and the telephone. Over the years a few changes were made in the design of the telephone necessitated by the increase in use of the phone. On the first ones there was a hand crank that alerted an operator. One held the ear piece to ones ear and spoke into the fixed voice unit on the phone box inself. Later a dial was added with ten digits and a set of buttons that would create a connection with the operator when the speaker/earpiece was lifted off its cradle.
All phones were owned by the phone company then and a customer only rented them. The phone company was responsible for all repairs. The big revolution came when customers were allowed to own their own phones. The number of phone users increased and so did the desire to have a private number instead of the party line system that had previously been in place. The party line system was a number shared by five or six families. In order to use the phone one had to lift the receiver and listen for a dial tone. If one was heard one could then dial a number. If a voice was heard on the other end, one just hung up and tried again later.
A huge step forward was the invention of the cordless phone which allowed the user to move about while talking on the phone instead of being limited by the length of a cord. The next step forward, believe it or not, was the CB radio. Made popular by "trucker" songs" people realized that they could have the ability to communicate with each other from their cars while driving along the highway without the extraordinary expense of car phones which were only for diplomats and wealthy people.
People being what they are, CB use quickly disintergrated into a field of shouting matches, insults, and sexual batterings, much like the comment sections on Yahoo sportspage except one didn't actually have to be able to read or write to insult others on the CB. People finally became tired of being abused by strangers and trying to figure out which of 40 channels friends and family were on so the base of car phones becan to expand. Soon people didn't want to be stuck in their cars or houses either and public phones were such a nusance to use. The cell phone was born allowing people to talk to each other anywhere and at anytime.
The only trouble with cell phones is that people had these expensive little toys that gave them freedom to communicate with others at will but people had nothing worthwhile to say. So camera phones were invented to give people something to do while waiting on a phone call. People are any better at taking pictures then they were at finding useful things to taslk about on their new cell phones so the application was born. One can go on the internet and find stuff, look at TV and movies, use their phone as a GPSD systems and all sorts of neat stuff. The only problem was that if called someone who wasn't available to accept their call one had to leave a voice message and who klikes talking to no one.
To solve that problem text messaging was invented so now one can communicate with whomever and never actually have to speak to anyone.
The great thing about these new phones is one can send out a text message to hundreds of people at the same time. In foreign counters, the abuility has been used to organize protests that have brough down governments. Here in the USA we have used this technology to organize "Days without Pants".
As the saying goes "Only in America".
Not that it is but as revolting as the idea of seeinbg hundreds of people walking around with pants on, it sure beats "planking".

Family's Kristy McNichol Comes Out as a Lesbian
Thuis is a strange headline from Yahoo considering there is no article to goalong with the headline. There is just the headline and then comments.
Kristy McNichol was a cute kid when she played on Family but I thought everyone knew she was gay back then. How long has it been since that show was on?
For this to be in the news, she must be involved in something that she needs to get the word out about. What is she up to?

Gingrich's NAACP, Food Stamp Remarks Stir Controversy
Actually, white people use assistance programs in far greater numbers than minorities do but minorities use assistance programs in a larger percentage of their population. It's been fifty years since intergration and there is still plenty of discrimination to go around. Just check out "Family Fued" with Steve Harvey as host. almost every show features a black family as contestants. going by that show, half of the American population is balck, half is white, and other cultures are only something we read about in newspapers and books and see on the internet.
It really would not matter which race is in charge of anything. People favor other people they can relate too. That is human nature and we must learn to accept that part of life.
Now when Newt said that he believes certain people would prefer paychecks over food stamps, granted, he should not have said certain people but I do believe most people would prefer to earn their own way. Of cource there are bums out there who want what others have and don't want to do anything for themselves if they can take their needs and wants from other people.
The only thing that is going to solve the racial problem in this society or any other society is the end of civilization . Skinny people will always poke fun at fat people, good-looking folks will always poke fun at ugly people, jocks will always poke fun at clumsy peoply. smart people will always look down on stupid people, and on and on forever. If somneone is different from you there is the potential for either you or they to find fault with each other.
Subtle discrimination, while irratating, is always going to be with us so we might as well get used to it and stop complaining about it. I just don't think Newt or any other person who becomes President will be able to design program that will aid only one segment of the population. I didn't actually hear what Newt said -only read what was reported-and it did sound like an unwise statement but not one worth getting upset about. After all, I am sure most black folks would rather be self supporting than have to depend on handouts but so would I and so would any other people, all races and cultures equally.

Justin Bieber Reveals Latest Religious Tattoo – An Image Of Jesus
First of all, no one really knows what Jesus looks like but we do know he never did look like the popular blue-eyed blonde seen in most depictions of him. Secondly, I have no desire to look at cartoons on any mans leg, especially a male like Justin Beiber. Thirdly, drawing on oneself in permanent color is silly

Who is fighting whom?
The Iraquis have been fighting since the USA invaded the country nine years ago. The claim is that they have been waging an internal struggle against the invaiders and a puppet government. Now that the USA has withdrawn its troops, exactly who is still fighting in Iraq and whom are they fighting?
If Islam is the religion of peace, as Muslims claim, then the country should quickly return to a peaceful condition. Can it possible be that Muslims serve a false God, that Ali is a lie, and the one true God is the God of Abraham, the God served by the Jewish community and the Christian community?

Evolution in Action
Scientists said on Tuesday that they had discovered the world's first hybrid sharks in Australian waters, a potential sign the predators were adapting to cope with climate change.
The mating of the local Australian black-tip shark with its global counterpart, the common black-tip, was an unprecedented discovery with implications for the entire shark world, said lead researcher Jess Morgan.
"It's very surprising because no one's ever seen shark hybrids before, this is not a common occurrence by any stretch of the imagination," Morgan, from the University of Queensland, told AFP.
"This is evolution in action."
Two sharks mated and had a baby shark. If a collie and a shepard dog mated maybe the puppies would be unlike other puppies but they are still dogs. Two black tip sharks mated and had a baby black tip shark. What has evolved?
If evplution is suppose to be an improvement. then why don't humans have the ability to climb trees and have a hairy bofy like chimps? How can being born subject to the elements and more vunerable to predators should an evolvement?
Evvolutionin action. Not by any strencth of the imagination.

New years Sunday School Lesson
The Two
Roads
Matt
7:13-14
There
are two gates and two roads
The
gates have a purpose: to keep the world out
Our
pastor preached a wonderful message on this scripture almost a year
ago but I want to look at the scriptures from a slightly different
perspective. It has been taught that the two roads go to different
places but what if they both go to the same place?
Think
of the wide road as a multilane superhighway. It could have three,
four, five or even more lanes.
Traffic
on the right:
Christians
who live in the right lane tend to be intolerant, judgmental
believers who are convinced they are defending the faith. They are
like drivers who drive strictly the speed limit who are quick to
criticize other drivers. These Christians follow a strict code of
behavior and are quick to point out the short comings of others.
Some of their characteristics are:
- Too narrow a translation of the bible.
- Certain behaviors are a sin, i.e. Singing in church, attending church on Sunday, using the wrong translation of the bible, dressing a certain way
- music must meet a strict standard
- Observance of church rituals must be adhered to strictly.
- Must behave in a very strict manner
- dogmatic in their beliefs
- critical of the way others do things, especially if it doesn't meet their criteria.
The
Christians on the right dictate to others what their behavior should
be, they are demanding, unfulfilled, and for the most part they are
unhappy. They are like the Parisees, adhering to the letter of the
law but ignoring the laws intent.
The
left Lane
The
Christians who live in the left lane have an entirely different take
on their religion. They have a more tolerant viewpoint on life.
Some of the ways one can recognize these folks are by the following
characteristics:
- They want to leave out those parts of the bible they find offensive. Like the blood, sin, and unnatural lifestyles.
- They want to water down the truth to make living a Christian life easier.
- They want to change scriptures to conform to their beliefs.
- They only want to teach those parts they believe in.
These
folks are unfulfilled in their Christian life and difficult to
recognize from non-believers.
The
Center lane
Churches
are full of people who like to drive, or live, in the center lane.
They pride themselves on not being so dogmatic that it turns people
off and not being so liberal that no one really knows what they
believe in. These people can be recognized by the following
characteristics:
- Like things more conventional but don't reject the liberal teachings outright.
- Like the newer programs and newer forms of worship but don't reject the old-fashioned ways outright.
- They aren't quite ready to commit their lives wholly to Christ but are afraid to stray.
These
people weave on the roadways, sometimes passing on the right,
sometimes speeding down the far left lanes, but always coming back to
the middle where they feel safer.
Many
of the Christians on the wide road are motivated to lead, especially
those on the left and to a lesser degree but the Christians traveling
the narrow path, while content to just follow, are the true leaders.
The
narrow Road
The
narrow road really isn't a road but maybe more like a wide path.
There are few people going this way but if you find one you will
recognize them by the following characteristics:
- They realize God is in control.
- They realize that being a Christian is being in a relationship with Christ and is not trying to adhere to a code of conduct or merely attending church or accepting a religion.
- They are willing to do what God wants them to do but not expecting God to bless them for what they want to do in God's name.
- They are willing to love others in spite of faults and are willing to serve others, to do what is necessary to further God's kingdom from the lowliest tasks to the following of commandments.
- They seek no honor for themselves but do all they do for the glory and honor of God.
The
way is narrow not because it is hard to follow but because it doesn't
have to be wide for one person to follow another or for two to walk
side-by-side. The path only becomes hard when we take our eyes of
Jesus (as Peter did when walking on the water) and get in the flesh.
The
narrow road is the scenic route. One the wide road, the superhighway
the destination is the goal. But on the narrow road, the journey is
the goal. It isn't a rocky thorny difficult path that many have
claimed it to be but a calm, pleasing stroll with the one we love.
The
person who travels the narrow path have a glow about them that the
world can see, a smile on their face when they have no right to
smile, a happiness about them
when
the world sees no reason for them to be happy.
As
you go about your day do so thinking about Jesus and how sweet it is
to have a savior like him, to know that God loves you and that no
matter what happens in this world, God is in control.
Enjoy
the trip.

It does happen
many years ago I was passing through High Point and was stopped at a traffic light. I had just dropped my wife off at work and didn't realize she had left the passenger door unlocked. While I was waiting for the light to change a woman jumped into my truck and urged me to take off.
I told her to get out of the truck but before I could convince her to leave a police cruiser pulled behind me and pulled his blue lights on.
He asked me to step out of the truck and then asked for my lincense and registration. I handed him my license and told him my registration was in the truck so he allowed me to retrieve it. For some stupid reason I tossed my wallet on the front seat. Anyway I told the sargeant what had happened and he then told me to stand by my truck while he talked to the woman. She was arrested on some charge as she was the one the police were looking for.
When I was let go I picked up my wallet and noticed my money was gone. I told the cops and the sargeant searched the woman and found the money in the exact amount and in the exact denominations I told him I had. Instead on returning the money he stuck it in his pocket and told me to have a nice day. 'I want my money" I said. "You can have it back once my investigation is over" he replied.
I never saw the money again.
I still support the police but don't necessarily trust them.

Perry/Brand Divorcing
What shocking news. I care so much I didn't even know they were a couple let alone married. All I know about Kathy Perry is she is a singer and her boobs were too big for Sesame Street. Russell Brand is an actor, I think. I've never heard her sing and I've never knowingly seen him act.
Now don't get me wrong. I do care when people get divorced, especially after just 14 months. When entertainers do this I always figure it's for publicity or for promotional of a project they just completed.
Still, people should be able to get along and work out their differences, especially if they truly loved each other.

Sorry, bad request
Starting yesterday when I clicked on a story featured on Yahoo I sometimes received the message "Sorry, bad request". That statement may not be meant for me but it reads like "you are a bad person for asking to read the story". No, yahoo is the wicked one here for promising to let me read a story and then not showing it.
The tag line show read something like,"Sorry we screwed up" or at least: "Sorry, the story is unavailable"
Better yet, Yahoo should not feature the headlines of a story that is not available but above all they should quit making me feel like I am a evil person for asking to read the story they promised me.

Bill Maher Tweets
I used to tweet but didn't see any benefit from doing so and it seemsd the only famous tweets are stupid ones, like the tweet from Bill Maher about Tim Tebow. Some people don't like Tim Tebow because they fell he is forcing his religion on them by his knelling in prayer but we all exercise our beliefs or lack of them in our daily lives whether we realize we are doing that or not. If one doesn't believe in God then that is their choice and they have that right but if someone does believe in God that also is their right.
Bill Maher also has the right under our constitution to say how he feels abour religion and about Tim Tebow as well but just because someone has a right to do so doesn't mean it's a good idea. I6t's like the poem I learned in drivers Ed. about the right-of-way. Ed had the right of way so he threw caution to the wind and exercised his claim but was killed in the ensuing crash. It would have been better to yield that which he had a right to but some people just have to go ahead and do what they believe that have the right to do regarless of whom they hurt.
In this case Bill Maher may have hurt himself worse than Tim Tebow. In case you didn't heasr about the tweet, Bill Maher said that Jesus sure let Tim Tebow down (after Tim Tebow threw 4 interceptions in a loss). Mr. Tebow nor any other Christian would believe or want you to believe that God plays football or takes sides in a football game. I would be one of the first to condemn Mr. Tebow if he said otherwise.
The things Mr. Maher said will not make a difference in Mr. Tebows beliefs but can only serve to hurt Mr. Maher. He may be correct in that there is no God but I would rather beleive that there is a God and be wrong than believe there is no God and no be right.

Conn. fire victim had career as safety chief
A mother, her son-in-law and her three grandchildren perished in a fire while the daughter and a contractor escaped the deadly blaze in the newly purchased $1.7 million dollar home.
When do contractors spend the night and why was the wife not with her husband and children but with the contractor when the fire began? Why would a seasoned security and safety person allow himself and his family to get trapped in a fire? Why were reports on the cause of the fire no released before the house was razed?
The last time I had some really intriquing questions about a fire, I conducted my own investigation and determined that the two women and the house quest were up all night partying on liquor and crack cocaine while the two boys slept in an upstairs bedroom. When the adults finally laid down to sleep it was already past mid-morning and the two boys, aged two and three, were waking up. One, probably hungry, when into one of the upstairs bedrooms to arouse the adult sleeping there and when he couldn't, took a cigarette lighter. The two boys began to play with the lighter and started the fire which killed the three year old and badly burned the younger one. The fire was ruled accidental by the investigators but I didn't see it that way.
The lady whose lighter was used by the boys to start the fire was a prostitute who in later years moved to Greensboro, NC and is still living there and was recently released from prison. She is still addicted to cocaine and working as a prostitute.
No, I'm not going to investigate this fire but I do beleive there is a truth behind what happened that may never be told.

The Race for the White House
I am disappointed by this years field of candidates for the White House from the Republican Party and as much so as I was in the election in 2008 However, I do no dislike any Republican candidate for the White House more than I dislike the current President except for one. If he is the nominee, I will be voting Libertarian (unless Donald Trump is the Libertarian candidate, in which case I'll consider moving overseas somewhere).
Last year I really hoped the candidate would have been Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell but she didn't want to run and Mr. Powell screwed his chances early in GW's first term. I seldom get what I want though, which isn't always a bad thing.

Job search update #2
No luck yet. Will try some more after Christmas. I will be attending grace Baptist tomorrow as my church isn't having services. i'm not sure exactly what I;ll do about church in the New Year.
Wintering fish
Normally I stop feeding my Koi and my goldfish around the middle of November at the latest and don't start again until sometime in March but this isn't a normal year. I'm still feeding them and as long as they are active I will continue to feed them. It has been too warm for them to hypernate although they are much less active than normal.
During the fall the fisd were eating less than normal asI was worried they would not get fat enough to make it through the winter but there have been very few days when I have not had to feed them. A couple of days I have to give them food at least three times.
The babies are growing. I have a couple that are at least five inches long although most are in the two to three inch range. Three have died in the last couple of weeks and I have idea why. One of them was one I had planned on keeping.
One of last years babies, Zero, a white fish with a big orange spot on its head, has long beautiful fins. I suppose it is a butterfly Koi. I have no idea at this stage if Zero is a boy or girl so I have to refer to the fish as an it.
The babies are in a wide variety of colors and most of them will be for sale this spring. Let me know if you or a friend of yours is in the market for some baby Koi. Pet stores sell theirs for $6.00 and up for 2" to 3" koi and $12.00 and up for Koi 3" to 5". I will make mine available for half that. I hate selling them but my pond just isn't large enough for that many fish.

Sad times/ a shrinking church
I feel sad for the little church that I attend and I don' know how to fix the problem. One lady, 92 now, had one leg operated on and she fell because of it shortly after and hurt herself really bad so she hasn't been able to attend. Another lady, one severly injured in an auto accident that left her barely able to function has found a boyfriend so she is attending his church now.
Our newest members, recently converted, have so many problems in their personal lives that prevent them from attending on a regular basis. Our missionary has gone out on deputation so he can no longer attend. Another member only comes when he brings his mother-in-law, the lady who fell and can no longer come.
Being a small as we are there are things larger churches can offer that we cannot so it is hard to interest people in coming to our little building. It is discouraging for our pastor who lives in Thomasville. We just don't have the workers who can go out nor the money to do much other than survive with.
What we need is lots of Xhristians to remember One Way Baptist in their prayers. If we can get people to pray for our church I believe we will begin to grow. I have DVD's of our pastor so if anyone wants one please send me an e-mail and let me know how to get it too you. I will provide them at no cost to any and all who will ask for one.
I want everyone to know about Christ and how One Way is trying our best to preach the word. If we can survive 2012 I believe one day we will grow into a large church that can be a big influence in the lives of our community but people have to support us through their prayers at least. I don't think it is too much to ask that Christians pray for our pastor and our church.

Football Fan--not
I have not seen a regular season football game in many years and have seen very few superbowl games. It is not that I don't like football. I suppose this started many years ago when I decided not to watch a football game until after the World Series was over. Then I realized that a football is only involved in play around seven minutes in an entire game (and the same people who sit and watch a two or three hoour football game with 7 minutes od action say baseball is slow). Basebahad drama on every pitch.
I find one of the biggest differences between baseball and football is that no matter what the score a baseball team can always win or lose up until the game is actually over. In football the two teams kept playing even though it is impossible for the losing team to win. Just quit and go home already.
I dislike all the penalties in football and especially dislike the idea of a touchdown being nullified or called back. Ever heard of a home run being recalled? The only penalty in baseball is a balk. Balks are rare and I've never seen but one called on a catcher.
Thgeonly thinbg I would change about baseball is the rule that allows the batter to be called out on a foul ball. If the batter doesn't have a chance to advance to first, he should not be called out. It would be nice if baseball had cheerleaders too. But I like the game and admire the skill it takes to be good at the game. And I love the unppredictability of the game where even the worst team has an even chance to win.

Drink the Kool-Aid: prescription drugs are responsible for more deaths than traffic accidents. Prescription drugs such as painkillers are killing more people than top illegal substances like cocaine and heroin combined, while selling rates soar — as well as unnecessary painkiller use.
Not only are pharmaceutical painkillers and other dangerous drugs like antipsychotics handed out like candy, but some are even introduced without testing, or even use perverted study results in an attempt to convey the false image of legitimacy. Drug companies like Merck and Baxter are notorious for their grimy misconduct and fraudulent practice in fervent promotion of their dangerous products.
The most ridiculous fact is that these drugs are legally pushed thanks to careless FDA regulation, and receive little scrutiny by the mainstream legal establishment despite many prominent health officials speaking out. These drugs are cleverly concealed under the guise of ‘treating’ disease, while substances like marijuana thathave actually been linked to improved health are categorized as highly illegal and dangerous by the federal government.
This is a literal Pharmageddon in which medical science peddles harmful pharmaceuticals while toting the supposed dangers of vitamins and minerals.
Of course in the past 27 years vitamins have been effectively linked to 0 deaths, while pharmaceuticals have killed over 3 million individuals

beach boys
It's hard to believe the Beach Boys are celebrating 50 years together. Yea, I guess so since I listened to them when I was young. I think back over the years and how music and listening to music has changed. The first record I ever purchased was Little Richie and was titled "Good Golly Miss Molly"
When I was thiteen WHKY played rock and roll between 9 and 10 pm on a program called night train and I had to rig a portable radio with a headphone to listen to the program. My parents would have punished me severly had they caught me listening to that kind of music. A couple of years later WIRC was bold enough to play rock and roll from 5 till 6 pm.
Back then very few kids had cars, no one used drugs except real gangsters and schools were still segregated. It seems like a different lifetime although today is a totally different world from the one I was born into.
Anyway, congratulations to the Beach Boys. Fifty years is a long time in this world.

child porn and pedophiles
I don't understand these people or the attraction they have for undeveloped people. I can't image being excited by a teent winnie or a flat chest, especially from a tiny person that has no concept of loving making and is physically and emotionally unable to respond in a positive way. These people who find the young kids sexcually attractive have got to be a demented group straight from the pits of hell.

Hearing Aids
My new hearing aids have come in but I can't get them until Feb 1. The doctor wants me to bring my spouse and she is only off on wednesdays and the only appointment available on Wednesdays is at 7:30am unless I wait until March 7th.
Job hunting Update
I have applied for 4 jobs so far. One job I had to apply for on-line while another I had to donwload the application from the web. I am trying to do two places each day. I'll let everyone know if I find one.
almost cynical
It seems when one has been disappointed by Christian friends, ignored by loved ones, and leery of strangers, even the well dressed friendly ones who only seem to want to help but really want to trick or scam you, it is good to read about the secret Santa's and the not-so-secret Santa's this Christmas who are paying off lay aways of struggling families, especially at K-Mart stores.
I know this is a common practice of one of the talk show hosts from 101.1 FM talk radio and I am thinking it is Clark Howard but I'm not really positive. It might be Neal Bortz as I most often listen to those two, as much for the time they are on and the time I am in my vehicle driving somewhere although I have to admit I find both men interesting.
I don't know if they paid lay aways or not but I know they frequently go into a Walmart store and look for the poorest looking person who is purchasing things for children and they will pay for the purchase. They do this around Christmas every year and have suggested that others do the same. I don't know if their idea finally caught on or if this is a new phenomenon that started spontaneously but it is a good thing.

Miley Cyrus
"Thank you for the compliment, but these babies are all mine," the former Disney star tweeted. "I wish [people would] realize you don't have to be fake to be beautiful!"
That was Miley's response to some thinking she had breast enhancement surgery. She is truthful in her statement but if she believes she is beautiful then she is also delusional. I would really perfer she cover her babies up myself.

Job Hunting starts today
I so looked forward to retirement but it seems I will have to go out looking for work today. My wife operation took away all my spending money and so extra money that I had expected won't arrive until March . There are some thing I want to do but can't because my wife finds things to spend money on faster than it comes in. To be fair to her, my truck did need some repair work and I had to remodel my bathroom so I have spent as much as she has, but just in bigger chunks (except for her operation).
My only wish is that if she needs something that she save up ahead of time for it. The money she spent on her operation is the money I had set aside for my spending money and our vacation. I have no money to spend and we didn't get to take a vacation.
I'm glad the operation was a success but retirement isn't easy unless one has a sucficient income to support oneself. I had planned for it but one source of income is taking much longer than I had expected. I was told it would start six months after I applied but it is taking 14 months instead. Another source of income won't begin for another two years. In the mean time I have to replace the money she spent on her operation plus the money I didn't get for eight months plyus enough to cover my truck repairs and bathroom redmodel.
Wheather I have to take a part-time or full time job depends on the amount of pay offered and the hours available.
I'll keep everyone posted on my job search results.

kids and vegatables
The best way to get kids to eat vegatables is to not feed them anything white when they are newborns up until they are able to eat on their own. A great way to get kids to eat carrots is to sprinkle brown sugar over them when you put them in the pot to cook so they will come out tasting like sweet potatoes.
Other than these two suggestions the only thing I know will work is to feed your kids nothing but vegatables. When they get hungry enough they will eat.

By Eric Pfeiffer
I hate the phrase "Just saying...."
What the heck is that suppose to mean? Does just because you are just saying mean that the conversation is over? Or does it mean that you have no facts to back up your statements because what you are saying is only an opinion?
It is irratating enough when a commenter from the general public ends his comments with the phrase but for a professional journalist to end a news story that way is insulting.
In case you are wondering, Eric Pfeiffer ended his article with that phrase: he didn't write this blog. I did.

.005%
Romney make a $10,000 wager with Rick Perry. Some wrote that the wager equates to just .005 % of Romneys net worth. I don't think I have a net worth because if I were to die I think someone would have to give my estate money in order for me to break even. I do know that as a percentage of my yearly income, .005% is just $150.00. By the way, that is my gross income. Yea, I know it is really gross.
Winter's coming
I don't like cold weather for several reasons. First, it's cold. I don't like being cold. I perfer to be warm. I like summer even though sometimes summer can be too hot. The last half of Spring and the first part of fall is okay but the rest of the year kinda sucks in my opinion. I like to grow stuff, to work in the yard, to play some baseball, to cook out and sit around the water pond and chat with family, friends and neighbors.
I retired in June and up until the end of Octomber I had more to do then I thought I could get done. I mowed the grass at the church as well as at home and my Mom's house. I took care of her, helped my wife with her mom, plus all the things that needed to be done at my own house. In the first part of the fall, I decided to cut back the briars and vines that were taking over at the church and it has been ten weeks now and I am almost done.
There is a pile of brush six feet high, six feet deep, and 60 feet long that I have cut down. Oh there is much more that could be done but I do not have the equipment nor the money to rent the equipment to finish the job. Pretty much accomplished what I set out to do and that was to clear an area big enough to have a pumpkin patch. Having a pumpkin patch will accomplish several things.
First, planting pumpkins will give me a little something to do, the pumpkin vines will cover the cleared land so I won't have to mow that and it will retard the grow of the briars and vines. Secondly, the pumpkins will give me something to sell in the fall to raise money to give to the church. Maybe start a building fund with the money.
But before that can be done, I have to finish digging up and clearing out all the vines in the field. The vines are as thick as the grass in most people's yard so it is a job . It would be nice to have a weed torch or a tractor. I can't use a tiller as in just a few minutes of use the vines will entwine the tiller blades and shaft so tight the blades can't turn.
Nope, all I have is a weed hoe and a hatchet. I have to pull the vines out one at a time. Of course I have all winter to get the job done.

Third party anyone?
last year we had McCain/Palin and this year it looks like the McCain/Palin ticket wasn't so bad after all. Where are all the Republican super stars that had been talked about? Why were we even talking about Romney and Perry? If we preferred someone else four years ago why would we consider them this time around?
I just wish the parties actually stood for something but that isn't true. It seems that all parties are good for is opposing what the party in power if for. I suppose that if Obama had bee against health insurance reform that the Republicans would have been pushing hard for it just like the Democrats fought against the idea of changing the way Social Security is funded.
Too bad about Herman Cain but he made the Republican party nomination race interesting
and I believe he actually stood a change of defeating Obama. As things stand now, the biggest problem the Republicans have now is themselves. Obama was vunerable but the Republicans have acted so stupidly that he just might win by a landslide again.
I wish there were another Lincoln or Washington, or Reagan out there but it only seems we have only a bunch of baggage handlers on the Republican side and a fairy tale President on the other.
I wonder too, just how many people are happy with Bev Purdeue? Too bad we couldn't have a do over on the last election.

there, their, and they're
I'm appalled at how many people just pick one of these words without having a clue which is the proper one to use. Not that it will do any good but this is the proper meaning of each one.
There: in or at a place, at a point in a speech or action
Their: a form of the pocessive case og THEY used as an attributive ajective before a noun.
They're: a contraction of the two words they and are.
It is not that hard.

Beauty or the beast
WhenI made a comment that I prefer to be married to a good woman rather than just a pretty woman, some people assumed that my wife was ugly. People don't have to be the beauty or the beast.
The story was that Christie Brinkley owed $531,000.00 in back taxes. I commented that there was a line from movie where a man says to a woman "you are so beautiful you deserve a good life". I believe the movie was "Water for Elephants" in which a vet who narrowly missed getting his degree from Yale falls in love with the wife of the owner of a circus while he was in their employ.
She didn't deserve anything more than anyone else. My first wife was a beautiful woman and looked so much younger than she really was but she was uneducated and self-centered and the older she got the less caring she became. She died of a heart attack and my second wife was a tall long-legged beauty that I discovered was more self-centered and selfish that my first wife was.
When I married again I married a woman for her character rather than just her physical beauty. It doesn't matter what she looks like. She makes me happy and is the most important person in my world and I make her happy and she views me as important in her life as well.
That is to be desired far above mere looks alone.

Lost Amy Winehouse song
if one was to discover a song by elvis or a composition by Bach or a painting by a famous artist long dead it would be big news and worth a lot of money. An Amy Winehouse song newly discovered may be valuable now otherwise the discovery of the song mighht have been hidden for twenty or thirty years or maybe longer. Afterall, in ten or twenty years no one will know who she is or care that one of her unreleased songs had been discovered.
Get it while the getting is good.
