Too Busy

Life has become hectic lately.  Helping family with their situations, working at the churchm, coaching baseball, working and taking care of my wife and our home is taking up allmy free time.  Friday was perhaps a typical day.

Up and out of the house at seven, I had to cath baby fish out of my pond and put them in an aquariaum and the call Whitaker Farms to arrange for delivery.  I made the delivery around 10:30 am and the over to the repair shop to pick up my lawn mower.  I got back home at 1150 just as my wife was leaving for work.

I fixed my lunch, showered and hit the road for my business meeting.  I returned home around five and fixed my dinner and had just finished eating when the preacher call to ask if I was going to the fellowship meeting with him.

Saturday I got a break because we didn't have a game so I mowed the grass at home and then went to the church and mowed grass there.  I started at 7:30 here and finished up at 4 at the church.  I came home, showered and fixed my supper before settling in to study for my Sunday School lesson.

Those two days are typical of my days now so if I don't blog as often please forgive me.    I had a very dear freind on my contact list but have just run out of day before I could get there but I stillplan on visiting her one day soon.

John Edwards has supporters

I had lunch yesterday wutha John Edwards supporter.  I was unaware there were such people left in the world but there are.  They were upset that John Edwares was being put on trial and they claimed anyone who didn't support giving free food and health care to any poor child was an idiot and din't have the right to live.

There wasn't much point in taking the opposite side as she showed herself unwilling to consider another point of view.  I'm a Republican and no, I don't want any child to go hungry or get sick and not find themselves able   to receive health care. I never made a great deal of money and now that I am retired I make even less.  I have always supported charities, including but not limited too the United Way, the American Red Cross, the March of Dimes, and my church.

All those charities are optopnal for me to support or not support.  In fact, if I am the las to die in my family, I intend to give my home for use to the families of long-term cancer patients, sort of like the Ronald McDonald house or have it sold and the proceeds given to the American Cancer society or another deserving charity.

However, if you threaten to put me in jail or to take my life if I don't give itto your poor child I'll fight you tooth and nail.  You have no right to my money.  Yes I know it is my civic duty to pay taxes so the government can furnish services for the common good of all men.  That is fine.  I received a free education and I don't mind paying taxes so someone else's child may attend school.  However, if you can't afford to take your child to the doctor and to feed your own child, then you should not have had that child.  Your child is not my kid to raise and I resent you thinking you have the right to force me to support your child.

Now if you make it known that you have fallen on hard times or just to lazy or strung out to care for your child I may decide to help support that child from the goodness of my heart.  But times are tough for me too and just because I have a job and a house and a car does not mean that I am able to support anyone besides my family.

Besides, I believe if you are going to be a taker you should be a giver also.  I willing put my life on the line for my country and I fel I earned the small disability check I receive.  I paid into the Social Security System my entire working life soI feel entitled to drawn from its assests.  Yes, I had children and I paif their medical bills and put food on the table for them.  I never asked for, expected, nor received help from anyone in raising and supporting my child.  My Mom purchased some clothes for him occasionally and yes, he was so cute that strangers would offer him money because of it but I never asked nor expecvted such things to happen.

No, I am not an idiot for not wanting to be forced to support your child.  Life is tough enough for me trying to take care of my own.  I take my mother-in-law to the doctor every week and once a moth I take my Mom grocery shopping and alwo help repair  her home and take care of her home and for the most part all at my own expense.  I do those things because I want too.

I do have the right to live.  I have made better choices than those who cannot afford to take care of their families.  I have worked for 53 years, paid my taxes and given of what I had to those that I thought were deserving and gave that willingly. But don't tell me I am an idiot and don't serve to live just because you cannot take care of your own and want to force me too.

Stop wasting money on car insurance

Stop wasting money on car insurance  reads the headlines of a Yahoo article.  I didn't read it but from watching commercials I bet I can do the article one better.

Firts, buy an Allstate Insurance policy.  Then go to Geico, get a policy there, and save $446.00,  Then go to State Farm  (call Jessica) and save another $400.00.  After that go to Century and save another $400.00.  And if that isn't enough savings, go to Allstate and save $300.00 there.  That $1546.00 a year in savings on a policy that costs $600.00 to $900.00 a year.  Buy enough policies and you could actually retire and not have to work untilyou die like Yahoo suggests in another article.

Rude awakening

My neighbors were treated to fire engine noises and sirens tyhis Easter morning.  My former neighbor, Johnny had construted two work sheds from plywood and covered the outside with tar paper.  They were an eye sore especially after the plywood became weathered and the tar paper tore and was left to flap in the breezes.

Yester one neighbor had started a cpuple of small fires in his back yard to burn grass and small pieces of wood he had picked up from his yard.  I can't say there is a connection between one neighbors debris burning and the other neighbors shed catching fire but there could be.  Then again, Johnny was there yesterday afternoon for whatever reason he feels drawn to visit the property thatwas foreclosed upon months ago.  In fact Wednesday it was put up for auction at the courthouse in Asheboro.

Another possibility was one of the neighborhood kids could have started the blaze as they stop by now and then to peek inside but I seriously doubt that the kids had anything to do with the fire.

The shed was a bad enough eyesore but now I am left with a burned out shed with debris scattereed around it whenever I look out my kitchen window or sit by my pond.  I was hoping the new owner would remove that shed.  Now, I suppose he will have no choice.

When paths cross

At the intersection of bad and could be better my path and the paths of two others will soon cross. I  can't wait to find out how things work out.

Offensive

I am not easily offended but a bumper sticker I saw the other day was totally offensive to me.  It read "
African-Americans for Obama."  I'm sure I would receive flack if I had one that said "Whites for anyone but Obama"

Why complain and protest against bigotry and then live a bigoted life?  Don't call be a bigot and have such a bumper sticker as that.

Kids choice awards

If celebrities didn't slap themselves on the back enough, we have to put up with awards from kids.
