Two candidates for governor lose their bid

At least half the people seeking election as a state governor lose but these two were up and coming "stars" of the Democratic party and were campaigned for by Barrack Obama and Oprah Winfrey.   Although voter turnout showed a big increase and voters showed excitement not seen since Barrack won the Presidency, the candidates still lost.
What the most shameful part of this defeat is that the race of the candidates played a big part in the excitement in their running and in their defeat.  I would love to see the day when there is no more black candidates or women candidates but just people running for office.  We are all Americans and there should not be agendas by a candidate for one segment of the population nor agendas against a segment of the population but what is best for the country regardless of where chips may fall.
We are a long way from there.  After centuries of persecution and the outrage of the holocaust, there is still much prejudice against the Jews for no other reason than they are Jewish.  I am so sick and tired of the divisions in the country along what makes us different. We should  celebrate our uniqueness as individuals and not lump people into groups and make them all have the same negative characteristics.
