FOND DU LAC, Wis. — A Wisconsin man opened fire on police during a six-hour standoff at a house, killing one officer and critically wounding another, authorities said.
I have never heard of so many police officers being gunned down in such a period of time. It seems every week we are reading about a policeman or two being killed or seriously wounded in a gun battle.
Last year (I think) a man walked into a doughnut shop and shot three police officers, killing two of them. The nation was shocked. In the last six months there have been almost weekly reports of officers being killed. So many reports in deed that we are becoming accustomed to the headline.
When police officers become afraid for their lives it puts all of us at a greater danger.
I don't know what we can do to turn this situation around but a solution needs to be found.
