While looking at pictures of the disaster in Japan, one can't help but notice how some strutures seem to escape. It is that way in tornadoes, huricanes and fires too. One building survived an earthquake, a tidal wave, and a ship perched on its roof while everything around it is broken into kindling.
It's baffling as to why or how but that's the nature of the beast.
