Skill needs to be taught

A skill that needs to be taught in drivers Education is how to control a car that goes off the road. It seems to be the one thing that people panic over, especially teenagers, and it is costly in terms of injuries and death. If drivers only knew what to do stories like this could be avoided :NCHP officials said the vehicle ran off the right side of the road at a curve, lost control and struck three trees before overturning. Both driver and passenger were killed.

Just teenagers, band members, going home after working at a concession stand. Yes, the were driving a little faster than the speed limit, 65 in a 55, but that had less to do with what happened than why it happened.

The kids were probably talking and the driver let the wheels drop off the payment on the right side. had he known to lightly apply the brakes and steer straight until he could safely return the car to the payment he would be alive today and so would his passenger. Inexperienced drivers try to correct the situation by jerking the steering wheel and trying to get the tires back on the road. As soon as the tires hit the payment, the driver discovers he over corrected and is shot across the road and into the nearest solid object, be it tree, telephone pole, or tractor-trailer
