Gay marriage ban

It is a shame that we had to have an admendment t oour state constitution to ban gay marriage.  The issue isn't Chritian values versus secular values.  Most societies in the present day world recognize marriage as being between men and women and it has been that way for centuries, and probably from the dawn of mankind.

And no, I'm not a stupid Christian who thinks the world is only 6,000 years old.  The recorded history of man only dates back around 6,000 years and that is a scientific fact but that is another subject altogether.

The marriage ban should not affect children as gay couples can not reproduce.  Yes, I know gay couples have kids but there had to be an opposite sex union there somewhere.  As a hetrosexual (I was born this way) I find even the idea of sex with a same sex person as myself to be revolting.  If a gay person (born that way)has sex with a person of the opposite sex in order to conceive a child then they made a concious choice to have sex with the opposite gender.  They seem to only prefer their own gender and do not act as revolted to have sex with the opposite gender as I would be.

It doesn't appear that they are being as honest about their true self as they claim to be.

People are as entitled to have a relationship with whomever they want as they are entitled to remain relationship free.  But should the state sanction all relationships? A man and woman living together isn't recognized as a marriage  and not all couples want that legal sanction.

In order for a society to function properly then there has to be rules, regulations, and laws.  It is through these legal means that a society functions.  Life is tough enough as it is without all this confusing nonsence thrown in.
