AAA: Inadequate guardrails at NY site where 7 died

Extremely dangerous road combined with excessive speed (68 in a 50) lead to the death of 7 people in New York.  Two Grandparents, their two daughters and three Grandchildren perished when the van they were in flew over the guardrails and plunged 6 feet to their deaths.

One of the daughters was drivng the van when sge hit a center divider causing her to loose control over the van.  The vehicle then struck a curk causing the van to go airborne and fly over the 4-foot guardrail.

True, the highway was dangerous and true, the driver was probably only keeping up with traffic flow but the highway was dangerous and the posted speed limit was 50 due to those conditions.  Would the accident have happened had she been obeying the law?

The husband of one victim quickly blamed the state for having inadequate safety percaustions in place claiming that was the cause of the accident.  Had the woman obeyed the speed limit I would have been the first to agree but since she was driving so fast it is obvious she allowed other factors to cloud her judgement.

Her family paid the price for her allowing herself to be pressured by the actions of others.
