Conan O'Brian

I saw his show live once. Before the show went on the air, he entertained the audience with unscripted and unrehearsed material that was suggested from audience questions and comments. The man was double-over and laugh until your side hurt funny. But once the actual show began, he was like a different person and nothing was funny, entertaining, or interesting. He was only slightly better than Chey Chase but not by much.

Conan was much funnier when he was on later at night.

And any time he's on a stage with William Shatner - LOOK OUT!

But the way he's been done by NBC (and Leno) is fairly criminal.

As for The Tonight Show, I was always more of a Letterman fan, and followed him to CBS. But his nasty behavior towards McCain/Palin during the 2008 campaign pretty much turned me off - and the intern thing was THE END.

Now, Craig Ferguson is adorable and hysterical. He's the guy I'll sometimes stay up late to watch.

The correct thing for Leno to have done after dropping his bomb (DUH!) in primetime would've been to bow out for a year or two, do Vegas, drive his cars, and give Conan the same chance that NBC gave him in the early years AC (after Carson).

But I hear Leno is a real jerk.

It's hard to care much anyway. As Ferguson said, it's just about a bunch of middle-aged-white-men in a fairly exclusive club fighting over money.

Another reason to watch Ferguson. He tells the truth;)
