One see stories on rich people all the timebut it doesn't matter to me who has what. It doesn't put money in my pocket or make my life any different to know this. There are some things that one can learn that will enrich ones life and those things are not found in stories about Paris Hilton, Warren Buffett, or Linsey Lohan. The only people I pay attention too are the ones that make a difference in my life whether it be momentarily or permantely.
I like the internet because I can find the answer to questions that I need answers too and find them quickly. I don't need to know how much money this person or that person made or who wore what dress better than another person.
Some things are a waste of prcious time.

Milk
Two percent
milk
Two percent milk sounds great — it's such a low number! What
most people don't realize is that whole milk contains only 3.25% fat.
So 2% milk contains less fat than regular milk, but not that
much. It isn't technically considered low fat; only 1% milk and fat free (also
called skim milk, which has less than 0.5% fat) meet that standard.
Two percent milk may say reduced fat however, because it has at least 25% less fat
than regular milk. But the American Heart Association and other health experts
recommend that adults choose 1% or fat free over other types of milk.
I'm sorry but I am not putting white water in my cereal each morning.
sleepless nights
Sometimes sleep doesn't come quickly or for long periods of time for me. After two, thre, or four hours I'll wake up and toss and turn for awhile, if not for several hours without being able to return to sleepiness. Even if I get up for an hour or so then then am able to sllep the remainder of the night and even if my total sleep adds up to 8 hours or more I still feel bad.
Fortunately, these nights happen less frequently now that by frequency has decreased to normal. Sometimeswhen I wake up I feel hungry and unless I get something to eat I'll not be able to return to sleep.
Now that I am on insulin and have been through my weigh gain (11 pounds in 30 dys) the weight is starting to come back of.
Well I had a tomato sandwich and a few links of sausage and I'm feeling a little sleepy now so I'm going back to bed.

fathers day gift
Ties, shirts, objects that can be used, boxes of candy, steak dinners and cookouts, objects that hold the potential for sentimental value, cards, colognes, and nights out on the town all have there place on Fathers Day but the best gift of all is that hug or kiss or phone call that lets a father know his kid or kids love him and appreciate him.

Beer can car
I was at the corner of 220 bisoness and 311 this afternoon when a bunch of men on motorcycles pulled out of the parking lot of the corner store/racetrack. after all the cyclists pulled out a man dring a beer can car pulled out behind them. It was like a giant motorized budweiser beer can. I would have been more impressed if it was a pepsi or coke but it was still cool.

Bethenny Frankel
Bethenny Frankel is listed on Yahoos list of top searches for June 14, 2012 and the reason is that"for the first time she is sharing details of her miscarriage."
Frankly Frankel I don't want to know details of your miscarriage. That is a little too personal for me. My question when I read the headlines and bylines is why now? Then I read another article that says that Bethenny Frankel is celebrating the opening of her new talk show.
I never heard of this woman but now that I have my world is a little sadder. She is using the death of her unborn to garner publicity to help her launch a new talk show. I find that fact just a little disturbing.

Diabetes
Tomorrow I had my 30 day checkup after starting insulin. For 5 years my diabetes has been controlled by diet but my body quitmaking insulin so now I have to take the shots. It isn't fun. The biggest thing is the quick drop from around 9:30 until about 10 in the morning, especially when I am engaged in some physical activity like mowing the lawn, or hoeing weeds in the garden. The first time it dropped to 70 I thought I was going to die.
Yesterday I was just feeling a little hungry but thought it was too early to eat so I tested my sugar and my reading was 49. Before I could put my test kit up I starterd shaking. It isn't a good feeling.
I had ran out of test strips so for four or five months I didn't test. My average reading during the last three month before insulin was 400. After taking insulin, my average reading, according to my test meter is 136.

June 23
June 23 is my wedding annivesary and it is also the date my church is having a hotdog cookout from 2-4. The church is located on Sunset in Randleman, you are invited, and the cost is zero. We will also have horseshoes, badmitton, a cornhole game and lawn darts. Come eat, fellowship and play some games.
Why can't it be the other way?
In every textbook I have ever read about Christianity, opponents of the religion have stated that many of the traditions, beliefs and practices of the religion were stolen or adapted from other religions. Why can't it be that other religions adopted Jewish customs and practices?

Organic beef
"Organic meat has never been given antibiotics or hormones, so it's always the way to go if you have the option," she says. "Grass-fed is even better; meat from a grass-fed animal doesn't have as much total or saturated fat as regular grain-fed."
Organic stuff costs more because it cost more to raise or losses are higher. Not adding fertilizer to vegatable yields less per acre and no pesticides yeild increased losses from disease and pests.
As far as meat, organic is costlier due to smaller animals and increased risk of sickness. While it is true that grass fed beef is healthier than grain fed beef because it has less fat, it is equally true that grass fed beef is tougher and has less flavor.

The Honest Truth About Cheating, Lying, and Dishonesty
A question was asked if bad behaviour was an inherent human quality or a learned response. 53% of respondents believe that bad behaviour is inherent while 47% believe it is a learned behaviour. From my own obsevation and my own experience, one does not have to teach a child to lie. It is true that many bad behaviours are learned, we are not born good nor or we necessarily born bad. But we do learn early enough that lieing will keep us from being punished we we get good at it. But telling that lie is not something that was taught to us but something that came nauturally.

I have pumpkins
I placed a ruler on he ground so you would have an idea about how big my pumpkin is. If you still are not sure, it is about the size of a baseball.
I have 107 pumpkin vines. Some vines are as long as twelve feet and one has three pumpkins on it (most only have two).
I want to sell these pumpkins come fall so I can have some extra money to donate to the church I attend. I have some pie pumpkins, some hallowen pumpkins and a few giant pumpkins, although I am not trying to grow extra large pumpkins but just wanted some larger than average to have a third price point.
If you decorate for the fall or halloween drop me an e-mail or stop by One Way Baptist on Sunset in Randleman to get your pumpkin.
Fanstory
I haven't thought of Fanstory in years. I suppose it is a way to improve ones writing if one isn't sensitive. Actually, most of the reviews are either cruel or not helpful at all. I made one man really mad. He wrote a story about a couple that had grown dissatisfied with each other so they looked for another relationship outside of the one they had together. They both made a blind date only to discover that their date was with each other. I told him what he wrote was the story of Frankie and Johnny and he was so mad. He thought I was accussing him of plagarism. I did actually.
If people gave you an honest, helpful review most writers would be appreciative. I wrote a short story about a baseball game. It was a totally true story. One reviewer told me my character wasn't realistic because he made a decision that was too mature for a twelve year old. Yes it was realistic. It was a true story. Factual to a "T".
One favorite comment was "You need to tighten the story up". What is that supposed to mean?
Anywas, I received an e-mail today from Fanstory. That's the only reason I thought of it today.

Getting older Sucks
I just went to the doctor who put me on insulin. The shots don't hurt and it is only midly inconvenient. I'm not complaining about that. It's the aches and pains that are the problem. I coached a boys baseball team this summer, something I have wanted to do again for the longest time but just did't have the time because of my work schedule.
My diabetics hasleft me weaker but I found ways to compensate for that. I just can't react as fast as I once could, I don't bend nearly as well, and forget running. Not only is doing the physical part harder but hurts more and so much longer than it once did. But it isn't that part of life that will keep me from coaching next year. I really want too. I just think the players need a more physically fit coach.
Knowing that I can't do or shouldn't do things I really want to do because I can't give to others what they need is the part of growing old that really sucks.

Obama says economy will come back stronger
Obama says economy will come back stronger
By JIM KUHNHENN Associated Press The Associated Press
But can the jobless survive and retirees loike myself have enough money left to make it. I had high hopes for this President but he has been a big disappointment. The only hope and change I can believe in now is the hope Obama doesn't win reelection and that things will change for the bettter once he is gone.
The last election was tough: I didn't want McCain and we certainly didn't need Obama bureveryone was sick of G.W. I believe Bush was too loyal to Cheney and Rumsfeld. Once Bush got rid of Donald things imroved tremedously in the war effort but the stage was already set for a Democratic victory in '08.
I am not saying Romney is the best man for the job. In fact he may not be any better than Obama but at least he will lead us in a different direction. It would be really nice if people would have an intelligent discussion and leave off using terms like Obumer, and Dumacratic and Repubican. I suppose it is too much to ask blacks to not vote for Obama just because he is black and whites to not vote against him for the same reason.
What is really sad is that no Democrat opposed Obama in the primaries. I am not opposed to a Democratic President. In fact, many programs that the Republicans support were once opposition party ideas and many Democratic proposals were originally proposed by the Republicns. Neither party always has the best solution and compromise isn't always the best way to go. We need to do a better job of what is best for the country and not be concerned as much as what is best for the party or even ones political career.

The last practice
Yesterday, 5-30-2012 was the last practice of the Randleman Reds. Coop was there with his arm in a sling but of course Jerry did not make it as he feels he is too good to practice. One boy flew to Puerto Rico to be with his dieing grandmother but my two assistant coaches were there. I decided to have some fun so I divided the squad into two teams with an assistant on each side and I pitched for both teams. We played what we used to call barrels. Since everyone there batted right handed, anything hit to the right of second base was considered a foul ball. We had a catcher, a third baseman, a shortstop, an outfielder and a first baseman on each team.
We played for an hour then regrouped, chose sides again and played a second game. It was fun. That is what baseball is supposed to be.
Even though the team went winless the kids were not losers. They came, they practiced hard, they played the best they could, they learned and they had a good time. They made some memories and hopefully some friends. I know I did.

Strychnine poisoning
I have heard of strychnine and knew it was a powerful poison yet I have not heard of it being used in a crime in the USA until today. A man used it to kill his wife, his nephew, his second wife, his newborn twins and his two sons from his first marriage. He was from India. I learned that the poison is readily available there.
I'm glad it is illegal here.

Talented?
Watching Americas got talent makes me wish I had some skillor talent that would blow peoples minds but then I realize I would have to creative and have to put a lot of work into it and I think the effort just isn't worth the reward.
Some people just can't do anything right
A 22 year old woman, nine months pregnant had been gracious enough to drop her ex boyfriend off at his new girlfriends house in Detroit. Just after she pulled her car into the garage the garage door unexpectantly closed. Someone grabbed her by the throat, poured liquid on her and set her ablaze. She she got out of the car and started to roll she was shot.
Her ex did nothing to help her and is now considered a person of interest.
The womans assilant isn't very good at murder.
Thank God that some idiots are spastic too.

stupid, irratating website
A man from Auburn, Wash., was arrested after police say he punched a young boy (how old was he?) in the face for reportedly being too loud during a movie (which one?). The boy reportedly lost a tooth (what else happened to him?) and the man who allegedly hit him is facing charges (what kind?). The man also claims the boy threw things at him (see photos of what) and purposely bumped his arms.
I can't believe bing is still doing this. Just tell me the story. I don't have time for this nonsense.
Unwanted end
I know my little league team hasn't won a game all season but i liked the idea of the post season tournament in which only the bottom four teams would compete against each other. It has been a weak roaster for me all year with two players never showing up to begin with and a third quitting before the first game was played.
For half the year I only had ten players but managed to pick one an extra one half way thourgh. It was then the team became more competitive but the extra player wasn't eligible for the post season. I petitioned the league and was given the green light for him to play. I had a player quit the last day of the regular season and another inform me they would be on vacation for the post season. That left me with nine.
Yesterday one injured his arm and is out for two weeks which left me with eight, enough to play but
the wrong eight to have a chnce to win. The injured player was one of my pitchers and one of the better players on the team. Today another player called to inform me they would not be palying in the tournament. That would only leave me with seven. I can't even take the field with seven players. I don't mind losing if we try but accepting defeat due to forfeiting just isn't my style.
For some reason I believe that if one makes a committment one should follow through. It's just not fair to the team when people act in their own interests at the expense of everyone else.

Wall Street Sucks
Not really but I have meager savings and I depend on what little I have to make it each month. The current slide in the stock market really doesn't hurt at the moment but when I get really old and need some extra money for medical bills it just won't be there.
Quit selling your stocks so cheap.

Excellent day
The wife and I packed some sandwiches and headed off to meet family and friends at the zoo. Except for the sudden dropin sugar that me me shaky, cold, and weak just before lunch it was a fine morning, even if there were four kids along for the trip.
After lunch we meet up again and took in a few more attrations before heading home. The wife and I had to come back to Randleman to meet the cable guy to install his stuff. While he was doing that I weeded the front flower bed and the main vegatable garden, found a modem and some cables for the installer, transferred the digital photos and videos to a disc, and ran up to the rec center to pickup the photos for the baseball team.
After that we headed back to Asheboro to again meet up with family, have some chicken or pizza and say our goodbyes.
Tommorrow is back to the grind, mpowing the grass here and at the church, calling the team members who ordered photos so they can pick the packages up, and notifing all about the time change for the baseball tournament.

perferct record
The baseball season ended last night for the Randleman Reds, an eleven and twelve year old baseball team and the team accomplished a perfect winless season.
It's not as bad as it sounds. The next to the last game we played the team we played in game one. we lost that game 24-2 but played to a 4-5 loss in extra innings in our final matchup. That's progress.
My problem is with the post season tournament. My team only had eleven players. One is going to the beach that week and one playe quit on the last day. That only leaves nine. One player didn't show up because he had somnething else would rather do and another only wants to pitch so he decided he didn't want to play the second game.
I had one player I cited for unsportsman-like conduct and had I had the players I would have sat him out but for the sake of the team and the players from others teams I played him anyway. Only six players made every game and 5 made every practice. I hate not playing in the post season tournament for those guys. I received permission to play a player that didn't join the team until halfway into the season in the tournament so I have 9 eleigible players but one of those will be at the beach so I'll only have eight and one is undependable and the other has a bad attitude.
Considering we have lost 15 games in a row including scrimmage and pre-season, I have no assistant coach to help, only 8 players and one with a bad attitude, and parents and kids have to pay to get into the tournament, I am considering not entering.

Myrtle Beach Summer Snow and blue heron
The picture of the bird is the critter that has been eating my fish. I put a net over the pond and it became stuck in it. It is a little small than a crow but larger than a blackbird and has a long neck. I'm not exactly sure what kind of bird it is but it should be a member of the heron or egret family.
The neighbors cat, which caught a squirell yesterday, came over and thought it had a free meal but I cut the bird free from the net and set it free. It promptly flew back into the net so I had to capture it and set it free the secon time. This time it flew back into the net again soI had to recue it the third time. It finally flew off. If it comes back either the cat or I willdo away with the creature.
The bottom photo is of a phenomenon I saw at Myrtle Beach State Park in S. C., in case someone didn't know where it was. I'm not sure you can see clearly what I'm about to tell you even if you enlarge the picture by clcking on it but what I am about to say is true and the reason for the picture.
A fluffy white substance was fallingand it stronly resembled snow and the ground was covered in this white fluffy stuff so thick it looked as if the ground was covered in a heavy dusting of snow. This stuff was only falling in one localized area not far from where the oak tree is just before exiting the hiking trail near the bathroom. This was last month. The wife and I had gone to Myrtle Beach to attend the Singing in the Sun and this was the day before the concert.

Just Sayin
"Just sayin" is a phrase usually added at the end of a statement that means absolutely nothing. It's kind of like having an opinion and expressing it and then apologizing for expressing that opnion. Someone sent in a text to "Dancing with the Stars" which said ' If_ and _ don't win I;m going to pick up my TV and throw it against the wall. Just sayin."
I read what the writer wrote. What did "just saying" add to the statement? Absolutely nothing. It's just an irratant tacked on to dilute the force of the statement, like apologizing in advance in case someone disagrees with your opinion, like you believe you are the sole person holding that belief or opinion.
One other that that irratates me is people who can't count words. Some says "I've got two words for you "I'm leaving." No, that's three words. Just because you make a contraction does not change the word count. In the above example, I'm is actually two words--I am and just because someone chooses to make a contraction does not alter the word count.

Danger in a pretty package
I really enjoy my Koi pondbut several days ago a blue heron showed up and has been hanging around ever since, looking for fresh fish to eat so i had to break out the netting to descourage the heron from trying to satisfy its hunger at my, and my fish's, expense.
I've tried to get its picture but to no avail so far.

It takes teamwork
One of the players on my baseball team can throw the ball faster than the other boys. Suprisingly, he is the second smallest kid on the team. One thing he has failed to realize is that being able to throw a ball faster than anyone else doesn't make him a good pitcher. He is only twelve and a twelve year old doesn't need to throw a hundred pitchesin a game.
One thing I learned watching Little League baseball is that throwing more than 70 pitches a game is harder on an arm than throwing curve balls. Now I have a good team but just don't have many good players on the team. Lately, the team has started to break down.
A couple of games ago my pitcher refused to play unless I put him in as catcher. Today we played a double header and I played him in right field. He sulked both games. He openly admitted he was mad because he didn't get to pitch.
It's hard to change someones attitude. Talking to him about sportsmanship and teamwork isn't going to work. That has already been proven. What I would do, if I could, is to let him pitch but have the other players refuse to play. No matter how good one is, a person cannot make it alone. God made Adam a helpmeetbecause even in a perfect world one cannot go it alone. This kid needs to learn that. He is part of a team and if he expects to participate and garner success, then he needs to contribute at whatever position he is given to play.

The title to this post is from an MSN article, which I didn't read. What exactly does either Bill Clinton or Billy Graham have to do with the vote? I've never heard either of them mentioned in any one's discussion of gay marriage. To me, it was all about tradition and common sense.
Stealing yourown stuff from the thief
A story on MSN tells about a man who had his bicycle stolen and when he saw it later he srole it back.
I remember when I was a student at Sam Houton State 8-track tapes were popular so many people bought 8-track tape players for their cars. A fellow student and friend had his player stolen and he wasn't happy about it. One night several of us were with him when he pulled into an A & W drive-in for a late night meal. After he said he was going to steal someone else's player to replace the one that was stolen from him I decided I would go inside to place my order. In my defense, I didn't really believe he was going to steal a player but just in case he did, I didn't want to have any knowledge of the crime.
After returning to the car with my order, my friend quickly backed out of his parking place and took off. Laying on the floor was an 8-track tape player. 'You really didn't steal that, did you" I asked in disbelief that I actually knew a thief.
"Sort of but not really," he replied. "I just stole my own 8-track."

Gay marriage ban
It is a shame that we had to have an admendment t oour state constitution to ban gay marriage. The issue isn't Chritian values versus secular values. Most societies in the present day world recognize marriage as being between men and women and it has been that way for centuries, and probably from the dawn of mankind.
And no, I'm not a stupid Christian who thinks the world is only 6,000 years old. The recorded history of man only dates back around 6,000 years and that is a scientific fact but that is another subject altogether.
The marriage ban should not affect children as gay couples can not reproduce. Yes, I know gay couples have kids but there had to be an opposite sex union there somewhere. As a hetrosexual (I was born this way) I find even the idea of sex with a same sex person as myself to be revolting. If a gay person (born that way)has sex with a person of the opposite sex in order to conceive a child then they made a concious choice to have sex with the opposite gender. They seem to only prefer their own gender and do not act as revolted to have sex with the opposite gender as I would be.
It doesn't appear that they are being as honest about their true self as they claim to be.
People are as entitled to have a relationship with whomever they want as they are entitled to remain relationship free. But should the state sanction all relationships? A man and woman living together isn't recognized as a marriage and not all couples want that legal sanction.
In order for a society to function properly then there has to be rules, regulations, and laws. It is through these legal means that a society functions. Life is tough enough as it is without all this confusing nonsence thrown in.

I am an optimist
I attend a church that is one of the smallest, if not the smallest in the county, I had a job that cost me $700.00 to go to, and I coach a baseball team that is 0-8 and have lost by a combined score of 125-24 and I am positive life is good.
I believe the church will grow and I believe my baseball team will win a game. The job I'm not to keen on but I'm positive I will find one that meets my needs.

Please explain
"Military officials have told NBC News that Clark died of an apparent massive heart attack. Grey says an autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death."
Apparent means that it is obvious, readily seen or observed. If that is so then there shoud be no doubt.
How can it be apparent he died of a massive heart attack? He could have died from numerous other causes. One line said he died of natural causes, which a massive heartattack isn't natural. Natural causes means a person gets old or worn out and his organs cease to function. It's kind of like a car. Never change or add oil and the car doesn't last long--like having a massive heart attack. But take good care of it and it will last longer but eventually the parts will wear thin and break. That's natural.

Pettitte nodded.
"I'd say that's fair," he replied.
And in four words he might have destroyed the case of the attorneys for whom he was supposed to be the star witness.
six words actually. I would say that is fair. Even though it is a contraction, it should count as two words.

AAA: Inadequate guardrails at NY site where 7 died
Extremely dangerous road combined with excessive speed (68 in a 50) lead to the death of 7 people in New York. Two Grandparents, their two daughters and three Grandchildren perished when the van they were in flew over the guardrails and plunged 6 feet to their deaths.
One of the daughters was drivng the van when sge hit a center divider causing her to loose control over the van. The vehicle then struck a curk causing the van to go airborne and fly over the 4-foot guardrail.
True, the highway was dangerous and true, the driver was probably only keeping up with traffic flow but the highway was dangerous and the posted speed limit was 50 due to those conditions. Would the accident have happened had she been obeying the law?
The husband of one victim quickly blamed the state for having inadequate safety percaustions in place claiming that was the cause of the accident. Had the woman obeyed the speed limit I would have been the first to agree but since she was driving so fast it is obvious she allowed other factors to cloud her judgement.
Her family paid the price for her allowing herself to be pressured by the actions of others.

Too Busy
Life has become hectic lately. Helping family with their situations, working at the churchm, coaching baseball, working and taking care of my wife and our home is taking up allmy free time. Friday was perhaps a typical day.
Up and out of the house at seven, I had to cath baby fish out of my pond and put them in an aquariaum and the call Whitaker Farms to arrange for delivery. I made the delivery around 10:30 am and the over to the repair shop to pick up my lawn mower. I got back home at 1150 just as my wife was leaving for work.
I fixed my lunch, showered and hit the road for my business meeting. I returned home around five and fixed my dinner and had just finished eating when the preacher call to ask if I was going to the fellowship meeting with him.
Saturday I got a break because we didn't have a game so I mowed the grass at home and then went to the church and mowed grass there. I started at 7:30 here and finished up at 4 at the church. I came home, showered and fixed my supper before settling in to study for my Sunday School lesson.
Those two days are typical of my days now so if I don't blog as often please forgive me. I had a very dear freind on my contact list but have just run out of day before I could get there but I stillplan on visiting her one day soon.

John Edwards has supporters
I had lunch yesterday wutha John Edwards supporter. I was unaware there were such people left in the world but there are. They were upset that John Edwares was being put on trial and they claimed anyone who didn't support giving free food and health care to any poor child was an idiot and din't have the right to live.
There wasn't much point in taking the opposite side as she showed herself unwilling to consider another point of view. I'm a Republican and no, I don't want any child to go hungry or get sick and not find themselves able to receive health care. I never made a great deal of money and now that I am retired I make even less. I have always supported charities, including but not limited too the United Way, the American Red Cross, the March of Dimes, and my church.
All those charities are optopnal for me to support or not support. In fact, if I am the las to die in my family, I intend to give my home for use to the families of long-term cancer patients, sort of like the Ronald McDonald house or have it sold and the proceeds given to the American Cancer society or another deserving charity.
However, if you threaten to put me in jail or to take my life if I don't give itto your poor child I'll fight you tooth and nail. You have no right to my money. Yes I know it is my civic duty to pay taxes so the government can furnish services for the common good of all men. That is fine. I received a free education and I don't mind paying taxes so someone else's child may attend school. However, if you can't afford to take your child to the doctor and to feed your own child, then you should not have had that child. Your child is not my kid to raise and I resent you thinking you have the right to force me to support your child.
Now if you make it known that you have fallen on hard times or just to lazy or strung out to care for your child I may decide to help support that child from the goodness of my heart. But times are tough for me too and just because I have a job and a house and a car does not mean that I am able to support anyone besides my family.
Besides, I believe if you are going to be a taker you should be a giver also. I willing put my life on the line for my country and I fel I earned the small disability check I receive. I paid into the Social Security System my entire working life soI feel entitled to drawn from its assests. Yes, I had children and I paif their medical bills and put food on the table for them. I never asked for, expected, nor received help from anyone in raising and supporting my child. My Mom purchased some clothes for him occasionally and yes, he was so cute that strangers would offer him money because of it but I never asked nor expecvted such things to happen.
No, I am not an idiot for not wanting to be forced to support your child. Life is tough enough for me trying to take care of my own. I take my mother-in-law to the doctor every week and once a moth I take my Mom grocery shopping and alwo help repair her home and take care of her home and for the most part all at my own expense. I do those things because I want too.
I do have the right to live. I have made better choices than those who cannot afford to take care of their families. I have worked for 53 years, paid my taxes and given of what I had to those that I thought were deserving and gave that willingly. But don't tell me I am an idiot and don't serve to live just because you cannot take care of your own and want to force me too.

Stop wasting money on car insurance
Stop
wasting money on car insurance reads the headlines of a Yahoo article. I didn't read it but from watching commercials I bet I can do the article one better.
Firts, buy an Allstate Insurance policy. Then go to Geico, get a policy there, and save $446.00, Then go to State Farm (call Jessica) and save another $400.00. After that go to Century and save another $400.00. And if that isn't enough savings, go to Allstate and save $300.00 there. That $1546.00 a year in savings on a policy that costs $600.00 to $900.00 a year. Buy enough policies and you could actually retire and not have to work untilyou die like Yahoo suggests in another article.

Rude awakening
My neighbors were treated to fire engine noises and sirens tyhis Easter morning. My former neighbor, Johnny had construted two work sheds from plywood and covered the outside with tar paper. They were an eye sore especially after the plywood became weathered and the tar paper tore and was left to flap in the breezes.
Yester one neighbor had started a cpuple of small fires in his back yard to burn grass and small pieces of wood he had picked up from his yard. I can't say there is a connection between one neighbors debris burning and the other neighbors shed catching fire but there could be. Then again, Johnny was there yesterday afternoon for whatever reason he feels drawn to visit the property thatwas foreclosed upon months ago. In fact Wednesday it was put up for auction at the courthouse in Asheboro.
Another possibility was one of the neighborhood kids could have started the blaze as they stop by now and then to peek inside but I seriously doubt that the kids had anything to do with the fire.
The shed was a bad enough eyesore but now I am left with a burned out shed with debris scattereed around it whenever I look out my kitchen window or sit by my pond. I was hoping the new owner would remove that shed. Now, I suppose he will have no choice.

Offensive
I am not easily offended but a bumper sticker I saw the other day was totally offensive to me. It read "
African-Americans for Obama." I'm sure I would receive flack if I had one that said "Whites for anyone but Obama"
Why complain and protest against bigotry and then live a bigoted life? Don't call be a bigot and have such a bumper sticker as that.

Winless to date
The preseason tournament showed up a lot of weaknesses in the Randleman Reds today. I had a scrimage game last week with Level Cross which we lost 8-6. We lost our first game today by the same score, then were defeated 22-0, the lost our third contest 9-7. We need to work on our defense, especially how to execute a pickle, where to throw a ball, and holding runners on base.
Ojne player was like a super star in practice when it came to handling ground balls but in four game he has commited an error on ever play he has been involved with. What gives?
We will work hard in the next two weeks to overcome our weaknesses and maybe we can win a few games this year.

Ehtical Dilemma
A few months back,a woman joined our church. Her and her sister lived near the church and both had a history of drugs so trying to live a Christian life is really a struggle for her. The lady has a young son who owns a pick=up truck with huge tires. One day someone took the truck (which has no tag) and spun wheelies all around their property, the church property, and the business property across the street.
This incident took place during the time I was working to clear the church property and I was at the church 3 or 4 hours every day. One day when I went over to the church property to work, I saw the sons truck sitting mired in mud, facing the church, and it was obvious that the truck was the vechicle that was used to cause the damage to the three properties.
The owner of the business, who also happens to be the owner of the house this lady, her sister and her son lives in, dedcided to sue for property damage.
Instead of owning up to their misdeeds, the lady and her son have chosen to deny culpability for the damage, instead to blame the incident on a visitor who just happened to get stuck in the mud after a recent rain.
If one had seen the propery damage it would be immediately obvious that the damage was not caused accidentalily as a mud trail led from where the truck is normally parked unto the street then into the church property back through where the truck is normally parked backinto the strert, and again and again. One one of the circles the truck veers wider, causing damage to the church property and to the propertyat the rental home. At one point the driver of the truck spins the truck around and is abandoned. The next day the truck is moved again causing more damage to the rental house property, the church property, and the property of the busines next door.
If I there is a court case and I am called as a witness, I stay to lose my assistant baseball coach and two or three members of the church. It should have been upon the lady and her son to tell the truth and had they done so then I would have been willing to work a deal to help them pay off the $150.00 the business is seeking to repair the damage.
But instead of telling the truth the family next door has chosen to deny any responsibility and has chosen instead to vacate the house and place their belongings in a storage unit until they can find a place to live.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do?

Dirty laundry
There was a man who used to attend the same church I do. At the end of the service, when the pastor makes his way to the exit to greet the congregation as they leave, this man would always pop out of his seat and beast the pastor to the exit to greet the people first.
His only job in the church was to schedule the Sunday School teachers but he never did and it fact refused to do so when the pastor asked him to do so.
He contributed $2.00 a week to the church yet he expected the church to buy his gas so he could attend and two or three times a year he expected the church to give him two or three hundred dollars for his electric bill.
His wife was listed on facebook as one of my wife's friends yet she never responded to my wife. After a year of being ignored, this man's wife was one of the many people my wife defriended from her facebook account. This man hah the nevre to call the preacher and complain that my wife had insulted them. I apologized in a letter to him and his family but the letter upset him so he complained to the preacher about that.
He was not attended the church since Christmas yet still has pocession of vital church documents and I wrote to him and asked him to return the documents. He called the preacher and claimed I insulted him by referred to him as Mr. rather than by his first name. He told the preacher that he was thinking about returning to church but he wasn't going to now. He told the preacher that I was too uppity and I need to remember who it was that nominated me for Deacon. he told the preacher that I should have called him instead of writing a letter and the preacher thinks I should have visited the man at his home.
First of all, I had no need to apologize to the man over anything. I didn't defriend him. Secondly, I did not call the man as his listed phone number is no longer a working number and I have not been given his cell phone number. Thirdly, I don't have time to drive from Randleman to Thomasville to retrieve sonething it is his responsibility to return to the church. He might not even be at home when I got there and I don't have a phone number to call and see if he would be home.
Being the Deacon is no great honor. Before I was asked to serve as Deacon, I mowed the grass at ythe church with my own lawn mower, volunteered to turn on the heat or a/c, even though I often had to get up at 3 am in order to do so. Over half the offering on Sunday mornings were given my me. If there were repair work to be done at the church (like the out building needing painted, the bell tower repaired or the floor in the church needed replacing I was the only member to show up to do the work.
If the church wants me to be the bad guy in this saga, I can resign as Deacon, quit teaching Sunday School, take my lawn care equipment home, let the preacher come to church 30 minutes early ever service to turn on the heat or a/c, quit video taping the services for the shut-ins, and just drop in two dollars a week into the offering plate.
But I'm not playing the devils game.

Obama's 13-year-old daughter spends springbreak in Mexico
What, the USA not good enough for the Presidents daughter?
co-worker enjoys smoking
wMy wife said one of her co-workers said they would never quit smoking because they enjoyed it too much. I said her co-worker is either a liar or delusional. No one enjoys smoking.
Smoking is expensive, smelly, inconvenient, embarrassing, and unhealthy. At $3.00 to $5.00 a pack in NC, the average smoker spends $30.00 a week or more on cigarettes. Most people would be excited to receive a 75 cent or dollar raise an hour in their paycheck. There are some people who attend my church who smoke. They burn one just before coming in and they reek. Of course they do not realize it but the stench is strong nonetheless. The smell stays in the home, on their clothing that's hanging in the closet, and in their car.
Inconvenient is an understatement. Now that smokers are forced outside to smoke, one has to stand in freezing temperatures, in the rain, in the scorching heat. in the dark. alone sometimes. just to have a smoke. Another inconvenience is wanting a cigarette and not being able to have one. Smokers can get a little antsy, sometimes a little short with their temper, and somnetimes just plain rude until they get their smoke fix. Sometimes smokers will just disappear off the job while they satisfy their cravings.
Any of the above three reasons can cause one to be embarrassed. Knowing that one smells bad can be embarrassing. Occasionally a smoker has to choose between purchasing a pack of smokes, lunch, or some gas for his car or a hot ashe falls off the cigarette and burns a small hole in a persons clothing.
Sometimes the need to smoke a cigarette can lead to embarrassing social situations, especially if the smoker is the only one in the group who does not smoke.
Of course, there are the health concerns too. Not all smokers get cancer but almost all smokers have more severe and more frequent colds. As a smoker ages, breathing problems become more and more severe. And yes, the risks of getting severe illnesses like enphusima and cancer dramatically increase and a persons life expentancy decreases.
Is there anything in the above statements that a person can point to and say "I enjoy that?' No, I didn't think so. What a person is really saying when he says he enjoys smoking too much to quit is that the withdrawal systems are to harsh to deal with. There are only too ways to make withdrawal symtoms go away and that is to have another cigarette or quit. Making a withdrawal symtom go away only takes one or two cigarettes, while quitting takes two to three months.
Quitting is painfull (not quite as much as dieing from lunch cancer though) almost to the point of being unbearable. No one enjoys that so it will appear in the smokers eye that not quitting is more enjoyable that quitting. In the short term I would have to agree it is so but within just a few months of quitting, ones health begins to improve.
The head pounding nicotine withdrawals subside after a few weeks, the coughing up phlem and the stopped up nose clears in about a month, the thoughs of a cigarette almost completely disappear in about three months and after that one can lead an almost normal life.
The desire for a smoke never ever really leaves a smoker but the truth is, an ex smoker can not ever have another one. The addiction is too powerful. And the shame of cigarette additction is that it isn't just a physical addiction. The physical part dictates that the smoker has a cigarette about every two hours during the day. But certain activities can trigger the need to smoke more often, like talking on a phone, driving a car, drinking a beer or coffee, eating, or socializing with friends.
Then there are those awkard moments when one doesn't know what to do with their hands. Some eat, some fidget, while other smoke. That is the mental part of the addiction. Being a three-pronged habit and addiction makes it extremely difficult to give up.
Even if you don't, you will never really enjoy smoking. It is too demanding and nasty of a habit to enjoy.

Politics or skin color?
Obama could not have been elected President of the United States by only African-Americans. For this upcoming election, it seems that those opposed to his reelection are being accused of being racist. Some are. Both racism works both ways. Some people voted for Obama in 2008 based on his skin color and some are supporting Obama for 2012 for the very same reason. Some are opposed to Obama based on his skin color as well.
The trouble with medicare is that one is forced into the system not because of age but because it exists. One cannot get private insurance once one reaches 65 unless it is through an employer in a group plan or one pays an exoribtant amount for what few policies do exist. For reasons such as I stated with medicare, many people are against Obama's policies. What to some people is preceived to be a threat to the American way of life is looked at by others as the solution to our problems.
On one hand it does seem cruel and unamerican to have citizens living that are unprotected by some form of insurance but it is also unamerican to ditate to people what choices they have to make in life. The more one does for another, the less that person does for himself.
Some of Obamas policies seem to offer solutions for current problems yet seem also to foster dependence on the government futher down the line.
So it is quite possible that some people are opposed to Obama based on his policies alone. If Obamas
plans are to orchestrate the subtle overthrow of our current economic system as some claim, he is clever in pullin off his con of the American people and really needs to be defeated. If his policies are haphazard with no scheme behind them, just knee-jerk reactions to current issues, he needs to be defeated because he is an incompetent idiot.
After all is said and done though, it all boils down to whether you like the guy or not. Obama is a likeable fellow and dispite what else he does, he will be difficult to defeat, harder still if he were white.
The reason I say that is this: he is a Democrat and has the majority of black vote anyway and the small percentage of whites opposed to Obama because he has a dark skin tone would not be so disposed to vote against him, making him a stronger candidate.
So is it possible for Obama to lose this election because he is black? It is indeed possible that a few voters could defeat Obama because of their prejudicial attitudes. Will that be the reason Obama is defeated? I hope that is not the reason we change the party of the President in the 2012 election.

This is reality
I love baseball, which you should know about me if you read my blog with any regularity. This year I am able to coach a little league team, the team from Randleman. coaching is fun and I am having a good time but the reality of the situation is 65 year old men should not be coaching baseball. At least this 65 year old man should not be coaching baseball.
I do have a 22 year old assistant.
Our first game is April 14.
My only expectation is that will will have some fun.

City of Refuge
The children from the City of Refuge could not make the services last night but we had a great service anyway. If you don't know who or what the City of Refuge is I suggest you look them up. Fantastic ministry, great kids with a sad past but a great future.

I've got my baseball team to caoch now, starting tomorrow night. I take myinsurance test tommorrow. I told my wife I would sell insuranceon M_T_W, take care of her mother on Thursday and mine one Friday each month. When are you going to mow the grass and take care of the gardens? she asked, if games are on Tuesdays and Saturdays. On the Fridays I don't go see Mom, on Thursday morning and Saturday night.
Well, when are you doing your Sunday School lesson?
In my spare time. sweetheart, in my sparetime.

stupid stuff on the web
Notice how much stupid stuff is on the web? Kim K and clan pose for stupid pictures, Beiber and Beaver sue each other, basketball stasr eats cookie off his forehead are just a few of the time wasting stories on the web today. Some of the other stories are the same story that was shown yesterday and the day before that and the day before that. Surely there is something interesting in the world besides this stuff.
I went to a church last night and heard some good preaching and some good singning and heard about 104 people getting saved in one service somewhere this week. I like that.
A local sportscaster died and its in the news for a week. It's a shame anyone has to die (except for some people like not so nice people, famous or not) but it is appointed for all to die. If the fat opinionated sportscaster wanted to live he would have taken better care of himself. It's great he loved being a grandpa and I believe all grandfathers should enjoy that part of their life.
I don't need to read articles on five things women are better at then men. I would love to read an articleabout how the unselfish act of a woman saved the life, or changed the life of another person for the betterment of at least one of them.
One of the best stories one will ever read on the web is one wrtitten by Chris Chase in which actually praise him for. Hasn't happened yet and probably never will but it would be big news.
I met a man last night who was 87 but looked not a day over a young looking 65 year old who is recovering from prostate cancer surgery. He said him and his wife were married in the little chapel of Brightwood Baptist in 1962. I once met a woman in her nineties at the doctors office who was just waiting on her momma to finish her doctor visit.
One of the preacher who sat in attendance at last night service has a daughter who lives in Arizona. This week she went missing and her residence is now considered a crime scene.
What I am trying to say is I care more about what is happening to you then I care about Justin vs. Jousting. I draw more inspiration from a man who married 50 years ago then i do from the kardaisians taking stupid pictures (hey, the stupid thing is not my choice of words) and I care much much more what Jesus Christ had to say than what Rich Brenner thought about anything.
Maybe one day Chris Chase will actually write a tory someone really wants to read. maybe one day I will too.

Winfrey to interview Houston's daughter, family
Houston was a dooper and her family is sad to see her go, of course, but Opra interviewing her family isn't going to change, enhance, or help anyone but Opra. She would have done the same for Davey Jones' family except for that skin tone thingy.
Oh yea, get upset about bigotry. It's okay for one race to discriminate but not another? What entertainer has had Opras support more than any other: Michael Jackson.
Ever watch Family Fued? With a black host, what percentage of the contestants are black? Ot's its higher than there percentage of the population chances are it is the result of discrimination. The breakdown of people by race in this country is white, espanic, and then black yet half the people on family fued is black and the other half are white.
What upsets me the most about this is that we aren't suppose to notice. Opra doesn't appeasr radical like some influencial people in the black community so as long as she smiles and talks nice we are to accept her brand of gentle discrimination. I'm sorry but wrong is wrong no matter how suttle the wrong is or who is committing the wrong.

Back stabbers
According to an internet article, most people (office workers, I suppose) have admitted they have been targets of back stabbing co-workers. Reading the article reminded me of one particular vicious incident I was involved in. I was a district supervisor in the pharmacy industry. I had visited one of my stores in Louisa, KY and discovered my manager was not there even though he was scheduled. Was was really strange about this incident was I had called from the parking lot before I went into the store and was tolod he had gone to the bank and would call me back as soon as he got back. A few minutes later he called.
I was still on the phone with him when I walked into the store and he was no whereto be found.
The next week I had to go to Pittsburgh to see my boss and while I was in my bosses office he received a call from my Louisa, KY store manager who had a complaint about me. He informed my boss that I was engaged in a behavior for which I would definetly be terminated if it was indeed true I was guilty of. Of course my boss knew he was lying as I could not be in Louisa, KY and Pittsburgh, PA at the same time andhe was my witness that I was in Pittsburgh.
He had a good laugh at the foolishness of my manager and fully understood when I terminated him as soon as I returned home.
